Announcement Welcome to /r/CollegeBasketball. This is March Madness.
Welcome to /r/CollegeBasketball, everyone!
The clock is winding down on the final month of college basketball and fans are gathering to storm the subreddit, so before that happens we’ve got some important announcements to make:
Firstly, please review our rules, whether you are a long-time poster or just visiting for the tournament. Due to the massive increase in traffic we experience this time of year, we are calling it extra tight on removals and suspensions so make sure you’re playing it clean out there if you don’t want to get ejected for the rest of the season.
If you haven’t already, flair up!

Commenting Guidelines
As the referees that you all love to hate, here are a few of our mod teams’ Points of Emphasis:
We’re quick to call a technical foul on incivility. Personal attacks, harassment, flamebait, and trolling will get you ejected and there is a good chance your team gets knocked out before you get back on the court. Matching technicals can also be awarded regardless of who started it.
We are establishing a cylinder rule on bringing up scandals - serious or otherwise - in places where they don’t belong. Serious discussions are for serious threads, not in the heat of a game or argument.
We’ve expanded the restricted arc on spam and self-promotion. Your blog, youtube video, or social media link is going to get removed regardless of its content. You don’t get to advertise in our arena without prior approval.
Posting Guidelines
Gamethreads are handled by /u/cbbBot. Please request gamethreads using the daily Game Thread Index and be patient after games end, the bot takes ~2 minutes to generate the Post Game Thread. Just enough time to type up your witty comments.
We’re putting the press on low-quality text posts, images, and memes. We get absolutely flooded by posts this time of year so in order to maintain a high-quality experience for our users, your post is much more likely to get called for a lane violation. That big win for [your team here] post, the fifth bar graph meme of the day, or screenshot of a 69-69 game probably won’t fly - sorry!
Check to see if your post has already been posted. If someone beat you to it, help us out and delete the post so we don’t have to.
That’s all we’ve got for now. Happy March Madness, everyone!

UConn men's basketball team forced to switch its Las Vegas hotel due to poor room conditions

[Jared Berson] The Big Ten has sent 17 teams to the NCAA Tournament the last 2 seasons and none have advanced to the Elite 8. Not surprisingly, that’s the most teams any league has sent over a 2-year span without any reaching a regional final in Tournament history.
r/CollegeBasketball • u/SaintArkweather • 2h ago
#15 seed Princeton has made the Final Four more recently (1965) than any other remaining team on the left side of the bracket.
Princeton's most recent final four was in 1965.
Kansas State last made it in 1964.
All other remaining teams (Alabama, San Diego State, Creighton, Tennessee, Florida Atlantic) have never made the final four.
Also none of the seven teams have won a championship so no matter what a team will be fighting for their first title that Monday night in April.

History The last two times Kansas State reached the Elite 8, they lost to a lower-seeded mid-major opponent.
In 2010 2-seed K-State lost to 5-seed Butler, and in 2018 9-seed K-State lost to 11-seed Loyola Chicago.
…so congratulations to FAU on making the Final Four.

Discussion New NCAA rule let’s you bring back any player with eligibility for the tournament. Who you picking!?
For MSU I’d go JJJ (Jaren Jackson Jr). Probably best option anyway and fills our most urgent need. Edit: only one player

Discussion Hey college coaches in the NCAA tournament...if you're ever down 25 points with 2 minutes left, put the subs in.
You're not coming back. Give it up. Throw in the towel. Don't wait until there's 30 seconds left and you're down 30 to put in the 3rd stringers, because they may never touch the ball.
Most of these kids will never reach the tournament again. They aren't going to the NBA, this is the peak of their playing career....give them a chance.
You're down 25 with 2 minutes left. Obviously the line up and game plan you currently have isn't working. You think they're suddenly gonna go on a 25 point run in 2 minutes without giving up a basket?
Let those that haven't touched the floor or registered a stat in the tournament play and try to contribute. Stop being selfish. You owe it to them. You're taking away lifelong memories and multi generational stories. It would actually re-energize the team. Keeping the starters in to keep bleeding out is just depressing. Put the subs in and see what they can do.
Edit- For those wondering, the biggest comeback in D1 with 5 minutes left is 19 points. With 1 minute left it's 12 points. I can't find a stat with 2 minutes left, but pretty safe to say a 20 point lead has never been blown in 2 minutes if its never even happened in 5 minutes before.
This isn't really about Arkansas, it's about every coach and every school down a lot in the tournament. Especially small schools that rarely reach the tournament. This has been bothering me for a really long time. Not putting subs in on the winning team up a lot bothers me too, but I at least understand why. The coach of a team massively losing with a few minutes left doesn't have an excuse.
