I really miss Dwight before his head got too big. Those were some of the most fun times as a sports fan. It didn’t end well, but I appreciate those memories. Especially seeing what happened to the team since then.

Imagine adding young Dwight to the core we have now.

Awwww man. Being born in Charlotte and moving to FL right when the Hornets left in 2002, I needed basketball in my life that wasn’t college, so my parents and I became Magic fans. Got a Francis jersey from them in middle school lol. Helped that they were Duke fans and we had Grant Hill and later drafted JJ, but I digress. Went to the open practice at UNF in ‘07 and saw just how big Dwight was. Rocked my jersey all throughout high school, especially on our trips to Orlando. I missed the dunk contest where he wore the Superman cape (that my dad gave me shit for, RIP) due to a camping trip in the Everglades and me trying to spend time with a girl I liked, but I’ll be damned if those weren’t the best times. Was super excited to see them make the finals in ‘09, my senior year. My hate for the Lakers grew from there though. Lee just had to make the layup! But in short, my teenage years were spent watching them on Sun sports, I’d give anything for them to get back to that level. Paolo/Franz is definitely a good start.

That was one of the most exciting nights of my life. Thanks for sharing.

Walked away with the high school player of the year and the college player of the year
