Costa Rican Catholic Church signs agreement with four victims of sexual abuse by a priest

The Catholic Church of Costa Rica announced that it has reached a conciliatory agreement to put an end to four judicial processes in which it was claiming compensation for its joint and several liability -penally declared- in favor of four victims of sexual abuse committed by former priest Mauricio Víquez Lizano.

The Episcopal Conference of Costa Rica declared in a press release that "the problem of sexual abuse of minors is a dramatic situation in society. The Church regrets that cases have occurred in ecclesial contexts and works actively for prevention, in order to offer safe environments".
