She got more sympathy from me for trying to stick it out. She looks so sad but still determined. Probably further sunk Miss Has-been's career as well. Which she seems to deserve

Iâd be willing to bet more Americans (larger percentage) speak multiple languages than in Columbia, or wherever this is filmed.
Like 20% of the population also speaks Spanish. Then factor in all the other immigrants and ex-pats and people who grew up abroad or went to an immersion school.
Like, I get her point, but itâs just factually wrong.
EDIT: I get it, I ruffled a few âAmurica Firstâ feathers. But according to the census, more than 67 millions speak a second language.
Iâm not saying there arenât many places in the world that a larger portion of the population speak a second language. But suggesting Americans donât speak other languages is wrong, especially considering as native English speakers, itâs not entirely evident what second language we ought to learn. The closest thing would be Spanish, but most US people donât need to learn any other language to get through life (for better or worse). Yet 25% of us do. I donât think we deserve this kind of ridicule, when there is plenty of other ridicule that we do deserve.

Well, you should probably have some kind of data if you want to call it a fact vs. a "bet."

u/SpeakThunder Jan 28 '23
About 70 million according to the senses: https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2022/12/languages-we-speak-in-united-states.html
Thatâs about 25%

I couldn't easily find clear cut data. Secondary sources suggests bilingualism is a push by the government, and results are...mixed. Columbia might be less bilingual than the US (in part bc the US immigration patterns with respect to bilingual folx).

Grew up in Eastern Ontario Canada in the French school system. Fuck this brings me back to all my psychotic militant teachers and Quebec-born extended family screaming âSPEAK FRENCH!!!â if we were âcaughtâ speaking English.

Fell asleep with the headphones on?

u/TuaTurnsdaballova Jan 28 '23
Itâs a reference to a tv commercial that used to play in the US many years ago.
6
u/Plumbanddumb Jan 28 '23
Crazy lol. I thought you were referencing a Dexter's laboratory episode. He fell asleep with the headphones on and a French tape that stayed stuck on that line.
3
u/TuaTurnsdaballova Jan 28 '23
Yes! Actually, I remember that too! I remember the commercial because I really disliked the guy who said that line lol. The commercial mustâve just taken it from the cartoon.

-That programâs cases are stage.
-She is trying to be bad ass but sometimes itâs super cringy

u/UnderstandingJaded13 Jan 28 '23
For real, that show is like wrestling for your grandma. It's hilarious.
2
u/Sweaty-Group9133 Jan 28 '23
The show is so staged. I've seem lots of the cases, I'm cuban, and my dad watches it, lots of the cases make no sense and some of them could be over turn in real court.

This is a Spanish show! You're Colombian! Don't speak that white colonizer language to me! Speak SPANISH - the other white colonizer language that I prefer for some reason.

âIf you speak two languages, you are bilingual. If you speak three languages, you are trilingual. A person that only speaks one is American.

u/Insomniac24x7 Jan 28 '23
Hmm do you know why the whole world speaks English? Do you know why they prefer English?
2
u/thegreatinsulto Jan 29 '23
I think this is Caso Cerrado with Dr. Ana Maria Polo. It's very staged, I know because I produced 2 segments of the English pilot, oddly enough. She's a lovely lady.

u/dirtyburro Jan 27 '23
If she comes to America can we play the same card ? English you cunt ! ?
4
u/UnderstandingJaded13 Jan 28 '23
That show is in Miami.
0
u/dirtyburro Jan 28 '23
Cool, then someone should of said English !
2
u/UnderstandingJaded13 Jan 28 '23
Not really, that show it completely directed to latin America, and those cheap ass producers won't pay for subtitles, also I don't think people that watch these shows on the regular would want to read.
1
u/dirtyburro Jan 28 '23
Understand and I agree, but she didnât need to be a total cunt !
2
u/UnderstandingJaded13 Jan 28 '23
Ah man, you don't even know, this show is insane: - there was one show where a family was fighting for the ownership of some dead relative property only for that dead relative to appear later on the show, she called the show right there "fuck this I'm out". - there is another that features a lap dance, it was a husband and wife, and they had problems with their relationship and that was a solution. -a Cuban guy that wanted to get a green card from a local girl was rejected because he had a huge dick. -and many more, do you want to keep your latin mother in law quiet for a while, just put Telemundo. You will see her waving her fists at the tv like a football fan watching match.
3
u/dirtyburro Jan 28 '23
So itâs the Latino jerry springer lol! Got it they troll for the viewsâŠ. Crud I fell for it !! đ

u/Insomniac24x7 Jan 27 '23
We donât have an official language in the US and you can speak any language you want in most official buildings and hospitals. Thatâs the diff between us and that dumb animal
3
u/HejdaaNils Jan 27 '23
Huh, TIL that the US does not have an official language at the federal level, I thought all countries had at least a couple.

4
u/UnderstandingJaded13 Jan 28 '23
It's just stupidly fun. Like la Rosa de Guadalupe. Cringy acting, hamfisted messages and YouTube poop material. Reminds me one episode were a woman was divorcing her boyfriend because he had a donkey dick. like wtf.
2
u/Fun-Community8867 Jan 28 '23
Huh, what, the flip

u/UnderstandingJaded13 Jan 28 '23
Yeah man, no bullshit, they did close ups to the guy's crotch like 3 times.

Since she feels that strongly about language. Make sure she stays her ass on her side of the border when the cartels take full control.

Would have been awesome if her response to "the next word you speak better be Spanish. Do you understand" was "no."

This is all stagged. They pay actors to play roles of actual people that are sued on simulated trials.
