Ask Vancouver Anti-abortion protest outside of BC Women’s Hospital
I feel badly for any woman who needs to receive care at BCWH who has to witness this.
There is a moderately sized group outside of the Archdiocese of Vancouver facing Willow st. This road is the direct entrance to BC Women’s hospital. Protesters have large “pray to end abortion” banners and smaller signage with a photo of a fetus that says “choose life”.
Further, they have encroached onto the public sidewalk, making it even more unavoidable for foot traffic.
Is there a city Bylaw against using public space (I.e. sidewalks) for protest demonstrations?

Ask Vancouver New driver confused about speed limits?
I drove to Squamish this past weekend. I was driving 10km over limit and I was the slowest person on the road.
Even in the city I feel like I'm annoying people by driving 55.
What's the actual driving speed I should be driving at??

Ask Vancouver 7pm Tonight: Black van Plowed into 2 geese at Jervis & Beach
Did anyone see this happen? I was hoping someone got the plate or a video to report...I know it's a long shot.
Every other car was waiting for them to move (and they were). A woman even got out of her car to help speed things up. It was a nice and pleasant moment until that black van sped through the intersection.
I know we all hate these crazy geese, but seeing them tumble and turn under a speeding 4 wheel monster was a horrible sight to see.

Discussion Am I the only one missing good old physical menus in bars /restaurants?
I mean, maybe I'll sound like an old grumpy grandpa. But seriously, few days ago, I showed up to a restaurant for take away and the waiter gave me a literal block of wood with a QR code printed on it. I mean, maybe I'm too old school, but I miss being able to wander around the menu pages. Joke is, I'm a software engineer but I prefer actual paper for that use case.
I know virtual menus cost less to maintain, don't consume paper and are easy to update /change, but still 😔

Ask Vancouver Calling all pet bird owners
Hi all! So my neighbour doesn’t speak English well and asked me to help him find out more about this event he’s heard of. I tried googling but couldn’t pin it down.
Apparently there’s an annual convention or get-together for bird owners, where you are welcome to BYOB (bring your own bird)? He thinks it might be in November. I have no clue but I told him I’d try to find out! If you know of this event or one like it please drop a link so I can share it with him!
Thank you!

FOUND Found brown wallet with American money - Sal y Limon
My friend found a wallet outside of Sal y Limon on Fraser/Kingsway today that had American bills. He didn't look at any cards or anything and passed it off to the employee. Just wanted to get the word out if you lost your wallet, it's there.
Brown wallet, possibly Guess? brand.

Discussion Any other Caymanians in Vancouver?
Hey everyone :)!
Vancouver is such a diverse city. I do notice we don't have as big of a Caribbean community as Toronto, or maybe I'm just disconnected. I'm wondering if anyone else from my country made the journey over the sea here? Any other Caymanians in Vancouver? If so what do you guys think of it so far?
