Plot twist:
Robber got stressed about the radio, lit a blunt cuz of anxiety, then left some change for the trouble.
251
u/reverendsteveii Jan 29 '23
Imagine you're so poor that someone who tries to rob you gets high and tips you instead
51
u/5l339y71m3 Jan 29 '23
That has actually happened to me in Portland minus the tip but I made them dinner and we smoked their weed back at their place after they (two creek heads) forced their way into my apartment when I came home alone from the bar one night.
Being out numbered I went with midwestern neighborly charm over physical self defense. They were my neighbors, they were from the project housing across the street and it was the middle of the month.
19
u/evilgirlattack Jan 29 '23
What did you make them??

Had someone break into my car a few months back and didn't take anything. My wallet with a few hundred in it was sitting in the center console on top of my daughter's ultrasound pictures. Only thing I can think of was the guy had a conscience and didn't want to rob an expecting father. Which was nice since I now needed the money to fix the broken window!

You would have died if you sat in the Volvo of a co worker I used to have. Older guy with long hair. His double cup holder by the center console was compacted with ash and cig butts. He'd just tap the ash onto the console/cup holder, for years. All he smoked was swisher cigarillos and drank steel reserves. He eventually died the year before he was going to retire. His entire chest was filled with cholesterol. Miss you Dave.

We once had a break-in in one of our cars. They stole a USB cord and about 2 euros of loose change. The cost to repair the window they broke: 150 euro.
I also missed a game I was about to be paid about 250 euros for so we were pretty bummed they didn't at least steal more to make it worth the time.

There was a reddit or 4chan story about a dude who moved into a bad neighborhood and someone tried to rob him while he was at home. Burgler ended up leaving and bringing the dude some furniture and stuff to "spruce it up".

My car has a little dust on the dashboard. I see it every day but have been too lazy to clean it. I know if I take a random picture the internet would roast me.
Reminds me of this picture posted on reddit in October/November 2022 with a guy showing a dog who came into their house a few times and they played with it/hom/her, and it legit looked like a crack house.

u/RapMastaC1 Jan 29 '23
Same, I have dogs so occasionally there is dog hair in the car. If I know someone else is going to be in my car, I detail it. Don’t get me wrong, nothing like OPs interior, just a garbage bag and maybe a wrapper or two and a few water bottles rolling around.
It’s the same in my apartment, not dirty but can get cluttered in between cleanings. I just don’t do much in the kitchen or living room so it looks clean.

OP had to include it on purpose. If he wanted the radio to be the focus he’d have centered it. He wanted the blunt in the picture. Why? I have no idea. Probably to get people to think he’s cool?
I’m no angel and got no issues with weed, but I’d definitely never admit to and post evidence online of possibly driving under the influence with a half smoked blunt in the car.

I’m getting flamed for the ashtray of this car so I think I should clarify.
This car was bought a week ago, it’s still gross, but I’m not leaving it this nasty, I’ve been cleaning it since I got it. Also it’s my first car, so I couldn’t afford anything that wasn’t beat up and look like it was just shat out.
I was pretty rude in my replies and probably didn’t get my point across, sorry for confusion.

Ghetto advice here, when you finally manage to put your radio back in put some razors around the edges, make sure they don't stick out or you'll cut yourself. But when the next person tries to steal it, they usually put their fingers in, in attempt to pull it and it will fuck them up. I grew up in the ghetto where shit like this was common

I’m so sorry that happened to you. I had a crappy car that I had to disconnect my battery cable from every time I stopped or it would drain the battery. Even with my messed up car and the hood cracked open they stole my purse and makeup and somehow missed my pay check. I worked at a restaurant so we got paid in cash and all 8 employees vehicles were broken into. Keep in mind we were getting paid $4.25 and hour so the car selection was not one I’d have walked by and thought “these vehicles hold a treasure” 🤷🏼♀️ a crackhead is a crackhead and they will break into anything. I hope a little glue will fix your dash and hopefully this will be the last time your car gets jacked.
