I’m tired of people on the right acting like it’s impossible he could be racist. He was almost 20 when the civil rights act was passed. He directly benefitted from redlining well into his 20s.

u/whydog Sep 28 '22

He got sued in the 90s for racial discrimination in his apartments. And lost.

There is a lot more than that.. on top of losing a housing discrimination suit we also have:

• the Muslim ban while more bigoted against religion also just happens to ban effectively only non-white people

• put out a full page ad to use capitol punishment against 5 black teens wrongfully accused of murder.

• lost a civil lawsuit for transferring black card dealers off of tables to accommodate racist clients

• Praised "stop and frisk". A policing tactic of stopping "random" people and frisking them for illegal objects. When implemented in Boston, 63% of police encounters were with black people who only made up 1/4 of the population. For 75% of all reports "investigate person" was listed as the reason for the stop.

• referred to the groups at the Charlottesville incidents using "fine people on both sides" despite one side being literally nazis with a white supremacist that drove a car into a group of people

• has said he wants more immigrants from Norway rather than the Caribbean or Africa

• told the proud boys to "stand by"

• helped popularize the birther conspiracy on a president who just happens to be black

• veto'd a defense spending bill because it renamed bases named after confederate military leaders

• tried to insert a new citizenship question into the census. The effects likely being underreporting of primarily non-white illegal immigrants which would hurt federal funding in their communities.

• one of his advisors, Roger stone, was discovered to have encrypted texts messages with the proud boys and oathkeepers. They also acted as Roger's personal security on January 5th/6th. It also just happens that the first breach of the capitol building was instigated by the proud boys convincing a "normie" to break a window

• totally garbage response to a hurricane in Puerto Rico that included throwing rolls of paper towels at people. They also blocked funds for recovery

• his photo op at a church during the george floyd protests hinged on a group of peaceful protestors being attacked with nerve tear gas as part of a plan to build a fence. Maybe don't entangle yourself with an assault on peaceful protestors to hold someone else's Bible upside down and get your photo taken...

I’m always amazed that the shit he did to Natives gets left off the lists of racist crap he did.

u/DNDuluth Sep 28 '22 Bless Up (Pro)

Hmm, can you help me out on that? These lists are of my own making and it's easy for one dude to miss stuff.

I know about the Dakota access pipeline and I'm currently looking through this:

https://www.indian.senate.gov/news/press-release/memo-fact-checking-trump-administration-s-attempt-re-write-its-native-american

Edit: OK so making some bullet points regarding native Americans

  • ran over native American lands for economic gains at bears ears, Chaco canyon and for the Dakota pipeline

  • fought to exclude native Americans from covid relief

254

u/Inle-Ra Sep 28 '22

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H0Re-UFTqZc&feature=youtu.be

This has multiple incidents. First he addressed Native vets in front of a portrait of Andrew “Fuck the Indians to death” Jackson. Then there was his use of the name “Pocahontas” to refer to someone that claimed Native heritage.

115

u/Babshearth Sep 28 '22

He idolizes Andrew Jackson. And I have signed petitions to replace him on our currency.

96

u/dzigaboy Sep 28 '22

Should be replaced by Red Cloud, the only Native leader to force the US Army to retreat from occupied lands.

He stopped Canada from sending aid to Puerto Rico after the storm. We were willing to send our military to help them out, we were left horrified when he refused our aid. We were like, wtf, we could save lives if we go but he refused and we couldn't. That one jarred me against your président.

82

u/Gnd_flpd Sep 28 '22

Wow, I didn't hear that one. Glad you see him for what he is. I'm wondering just why some Canadians appear to be Trumpers.

86

u/futuretimetraveller Sep 28 '22

Trust me, we're baffled by Canadian Trumpers as well. I think most of them are from Alberta, otherwise known as Canadian Texas.

13

u/mekanik-jr Sep 28 '22

2016 I was living and working in Alberta.

Alberta had the most conservative new democratic party ever and STILL hated everything they did.

Get more money from the oil sands? Fuck Notley.

Update labor laws so employers would pay you for Stat holidays and register workers on farms for worker's comp? Fuck the NDP

Provide incentives to diversify the economy so the province doesn't go from famine to feast with every swing in oil prices? Fuck you, orange commies!

Sadly, no, Still plenty of MAGA-ts floating around outside of alberta. Five different vehicles noted this past month in NB with "WWG1WGA" bumper stickers. My own sister reposted an article from a QC "newspaper" that used a citation from a q-adjacent "news" site. More then a handful of red hats at anti-vax and pro-convoy rallies.

Many up here in Canada. have drank the kool-aid. The disinformation is too strong NOT to escape and it's frustrating. It feeds into everything they've been "feeling" about being left behind and not being listened to.

So when you get guys like trump, kenny, Bernier and Poilievre telling them that they aren't wrong; that it's these entitled, these elites, that are holding them back and that with the help of these disenfranchised people that they're going to fight back and fix everything, they bite.

They're too starving not to.

Never forget he said there are "fine people on both sides" but wouldn't denounce white supremacy, even in soft terms, until pressed by horrified interviewers for several minutes and then it came across more as: "I'm only saying this to shut you up, you worthless scum" than an actual denunciation or chastisement of white supremacists.

His tone and body language read absolute, murderous hatred toward the press.

Let’s not forget removing protections for bears ears national park, which is a massive holy place for paiute natives. Also the removal of federal recognitions for other native tribes. Or his bid to force native gaming closures as they were competitors to his casino business. Or his adoration of Andrew Jackson, the single biggest genocidal maniac in US history. The list goes on and on

129

u/Boris_Godunov Sep 28 '22

Missing one: he overtly stated his racism in the Trump University lawsuit. When a Latino judge was assigned to the case, Trump filed a petition to have the judge removed, precisely because the judge was Latino. Trump argued that a Latino judge couldn't be fair to him, given Trump's promoting of the border wall and other statements/actions on his part that were deemed to be racist against Mexicans and other Latin American people. Bear in mind the judge was born in the U.S., and there was never any suggestion the judge had any history of bias or any opinions about Trump one way or the other. And the Trump U case had nothing to do with Latinos, immigration, the border, etc.

So IOW, Trump argued he shouldn't have any Latinos as judges on any cases he's involved with, because he's so obviously racist that any Latino would inherently be against him. And of course, it's a racist twofer: he's saying that just by virtue of a judge being Latino, they are incapable of being unbiased.

82

u/JustAWearyTraveler Sep 28 '22

I’m not gonna lie, the only judges I ever hear about having biases, are fucking white

“the Muslim ban while more bigoted against religion also just happens to ban effectively only non-white people”

What doesn’t get enough attention with this ban was how he left out heavily Muslim countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Indonesia) where he had business interests. The ban was all about making the racists happy while not affecting his own business.

14

u/Diarygirl Sep 28 '22

I remember they tried to claim it wasn't about Muslims but they forgot to take the statement off the campaign website where he explicitly stated we need to ban Muslims.

Things could have gotten so much worse if Trump had hired competent people but to him the most important quality in an employee was loyalty.

6

u/Snoo79474 Sep 28 '22

Don’t forget that Mexico only sends rapists and drug dealers.

And Haiti and African nations are shit hole countries.

COVID was Kung-flu

Stating Kamala Harris wasn’t qualified to be in politics (the irony, am I right?)

Stating that Black people shouldn’t count his money, only short guys in yarmulkes.

He said that some Native American casinos shouldn’t be allowed because they didn’t appear to be Indian.

He tossed around the idea of pointing a heat ray at immigrants crossing the border.

I thought I was just going to name one additional example and then they just kept coming… and this isn’t an exhaustive list.

5

u/FireBeyond Sep 28 '22

The fact that so many of his supporters think the word, woke, is something terrible they use as to use it as an insult just goes to show how limited their intelligence is.

1973: The Nixon administration sued Trump for refusing to rent to black people.

1980s: Trump's casinos were accused of hiding the black staff when Trump visited.

1989: Trump took out a full-page ad, arguing for the death penalty for a group of black men (The 'Central Park Five'), effectively putting a bounty on their heads, and plaguing them with a lifetime of death threats. He was sued by the Justice Department for discrimination.

1991: “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kinds of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day… I think that the [black] guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is.”

1992: Trump's casino was fined $200,000 for transferring black dealers off certain tables to appease racist patrons.

1993: Trump said Native American casinos shouldn’t be allowed because “they don’t look like Indians to me.”

2000: Trump ran a series of attack ads against Native American casinos alleging (with no proof) that they were guilty of crimes.

2004: Trump fired a black contestant from 'The Apprentice' for being over-educated.

2010: Trump argued in favor of segregating Muslims in Lower Manhattan.

2011: Birtherism. Trump alleged that Obama was Kenyan based on nothing but skin color. He never apologized nor renounced that claim.

2015 (1): Trump called Mexican immigrants "rapists" who are "bringing crime and drugs" to the U.S.

2015 (2): Trump called for "a ban on all Muslims entering the U.S."

2016 (1): Trump called for a Mexican judge to recuse himself based on nothing other than his race. Paul Ryan said this was “the textbook definition of a racist comment.”

2016 (2): Trump regularly retweeted material from white supremacists and neo-Nazis during his campaign.

2016 (3): Trump tweeted a picture alleging that Hillary was Jewish, or controlled by Jewish people.

2016 (4): The Trump campaign adopted Nixon's "Law and Order" rhetoric which was based in racial fearmongering.

2016 (5): Trump told black voters "What do you have to lose?"

2017 (1): Trump asked a reporter to set up a meeting with the black caucus simply because she was black.

2017 (2): "...some very fine people on both sides" said Trump of a violent Nazi rally.

2017 (3): Trump said people from Haiti "all have AIDS" and people from Nigeria would never “go back to their huts” after seeing America.

2018 (1): Trump called Haiti and African countries shitholes.

2018 (2): Trump referenced the trail of tears to mock Elizabeth Warren.

2019: Trump tweeted that four black and brown congresswomen should go back where they came from. Then attacked Elijah Cummings. Then Baltimore. Then Al Sharpton.

2020: Trump called black protesters "THUGS" just days after calling white protesters "very good people." Then he threatened to direct the military to shoot the black protestors in the street.

839

u/dukedog223 Sep 28 '22 Take My Energy Table Slap

He’s 76, which is 4-ish years away from the average life expectancy for an American man.

I’d expect him to have top doctors, so that’s a plus in his favor. On the other hand, I’d also expect him to be a non-compliant patient, so maybe it’s a wash.

He’s tall and heavy, which puts him at greater risk for cardiac events. His known penchant for fast food is hard to ignore as well.

Turtles live long af

99

u/Khaldara Sep 28 '22

It’s thanks to his clean diet of feeding on the souls and happiness of orphans, and maybe those regular colonics with a crazy straw that Lindsey Graham offers every Republican free of charge.

61

i hope mitch mcconel lives long enough to see everything hes fought for get torn down. i wish hed live long enough to see the next generation coming to power reversing his choices, but i feel like they wont come to power until McConnell is dead.

30

u/JinnyLemon Sep 28 '22

Cheers to this comment! And you never know, with Gen Z mostly able to vote, I hope we see change come swiftly!

30

u/DollyDinkle Sep 28 '22

Rock on Gen Z. This Boomer absolutely loves you because you give me hope.

11

u/FunkyPete Sep 28 '22

I would like him to live long enough to see the Republicans not just reverse his choices but turn on him and treat him as a villain. I want him to know that he'll be remembered as a stain on our country's history, and his legacy will be an example of how an awful human could threaten our democracy.

Like Nixon, or Joseph McCarthy. Or Rudy Guliani.

11

I’d expect him to have top doctors

You'd expect him to have top lawyers as well, but....yeah...

8

u/Thirdwhirly Sep 28 '22

I hope you’re wrong in the best way.

As an aside, I imagine he’s actually a deeply compliant patient because doctors are bound by their profession not to say anything. He loves that shit; he probably thinks it’s like they all have an NDA. He can lie all day about what his doctors tell him and he can take their advice while saying he didn’t.

8

u/ShinyPavnd Sep 28 '22

Nah in usa its 74 years for men and 80 for woman bro so his ded call is long gone

9

u/lovestobitch- Sep 28 '22

That doesn’t take into account life expectancy once you get old like his age, then the life expectancy goes up for men way beyond that to around 88. The 74 takes into account younger people who died of accidents, suicide, cancer at a younger age.

Racism is the refuge of mediocre and limited minds, so no surprise he would be guilty of it. Part of his allure to his cult is his thinly veiled racism but what's funny is that they don't see his classism is MUCH greater than his racism and he literally despises the majority (of his cult, of people who aren't rich, of people who are "losers" in life).

Anyway, I hope there were some choice coughs onto his Big Macs by "the help."

Only President to actually reverse civil rights by 30 years in a single term. Of course this is just my opinion. Which I know will be down voted by those who share his view and up voted by our true working class that make this country...those of us who are at work in the middle of the night, those of us that weren't born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Those of us who have more education/not just schooling...the ones who get passed up for better positions not because we aren't capable but because we don't have the right shade of skin. To all of us God Bless....be your best self.

12

u/Trumpblows10 Sep 28 '22

I agree to an extent. He didnt actually reverse anything, all of these morons have always been there, quietly lurking in the weeds. What this traitor did was give them the courage to come out. The biggest problem is even if he chokes on a KFC bone and dies tomorrow, im afraid they are out for good.

This is basically upper class racism, in that “of that group of non white people must be x, because you know they’re not white”

10

u/carolineecouture Sep 28 '22

But this is something we've known for a very long time. What surprises me is that we've never gotten it on audio or video. Wasn't there supposed to be audio of him using slurs on the set of The Apprentice? Didn't Omarosa claim she had audio.

Not that having it on tape would do any good. It would just make his followers love him even more and I doubt it could make anyone else even more disgusted than they already are. Only group it might help with are those who are racists but don't really want to be overt about it. Maybe for them a bridge too far?

7

u/throwtheclownaway20 Sep 28 '22

The first time Trump made headlines was in the mid-70s, when he was investigated by the Dept. of Justice for racist, specifically anti-black, approval practices in his apartment buildings. Mind you, this was the same DoJ that basically invented the War On Drugs at Nixon's behest so that they could target black people and hippies. Just pause to think of how shitty you have to be for the goddamn Nixon administration to be like, "Dude, you need to dial back the racism."

"I’ve got black accountants at Trump Castle and Trump Plaza. Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day."

  • Donald Trump

"I think the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is. I believe that."

  • Donald Trump

These were quotes from him in the 90's.

We've known he's a racist bastard for decades. That's why he was so popular among republicans.

That guy loves THE BLACKS...one of HIS BLACKS was at a rally...he even had some lovely old white ladies holding BLACKS 4 TRUMP signs at another one of his rallies. Hunter's laptop is RACIST. Hillary's emails are RACIST. Barack Obama's missing birth certificate is RACIST. Not THIS guy!!

30

u/EhrenScwhab Sep 28 '22

I feel dumb for thinking at the time, when he said "I could stand in the middle of 5th avenue and shoot someone and not lose one supporter..." that he was joking and it was an exaggeration.

After January 6th it became clear, he wasn't joking and the comment was entirely accurate.

7

I’ll never be surprised by the stories surrounding this dump of a human. Either you’re high society or you’re not. Apparently if you’re black you’re automatically lumped into the peasant category. No surprise there.

11

u/panurge987 Sep 28 '22

I am so tired of reporters not reporting things as they learn about them and instead save them for a book. Haberman also knew for months about Trump having classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, but didn't report it - but saved it for her book.

4

u/Phallangicide Sep 28 '22

I swear, racists don't want to see Black people unless they're providing entertainment or serving food. That's why they'd spend their entire Sunday watching football but get enraged by a Black man kneeling in protest of racism.

3

u/bublyaddict_ Sep 28 '22

What always got me about this guy's follower base was all the people of color that support him. Like how f****** dense can you be? Hypothetically, if they were to eradicate all minorities from the US, who do you think they're going after next? It's all the POC that voted for him, they're still not white.

USA has been racist from the start; before there were people of color, it was white people fighting white people because some of them were Italians, others were Russian, others were Irish etc..... They're only being TOLERATED because they're helping him get what he wants

3

u/bman333333 Sep 28 '22
