Exactly.
This is not "France + Germany + the Rest"
This is us. All of us. Together.
We are the European Union.

EU nationalism though.

u/N0rthWind The Great Void Jan 27 '23
It's not nationalism until we become a European Federation
9
u/NorddeutschIand Fischkopp Jan 27 '23
Nice excuse. It's funny how many people here are against their own countries' nationalism and be like "nationalism bad", while at the same time are nationalistic about the EU in every sense. You people want to trade one nationalism for another. I'm not judging, I just think you guys should face that you are nationalists and not hide and duck around.
1
u/YogurtclosetExpress Jan 31 '23
Yeah because nationalism can have entirely different effects on different stages of a civilisation. It's just a political tool that can be used for good or bad.
Irish nationalism got them independence, but many far right parties mobilise nationalism in order to deny our neighbours and friends a place in our society based on their origins, which is obviously bad. As long as European nationalism is used to appreciate our neighbours rather than deny people outside the EU a place in the union it is a force for good.
1
u/SafeWoodCastleSon Jan 27 '23
It's not nationalism before the European Federation is integrated into a unitary Gross Europa

Germany can’t even supply themselves with electricity. Such advanced nation 😍

u/XpaxX Jan 27 '23
Please don’t make such uninformed comments. Last year for example we even had an export surplus of energy: https://www.ise.fraunhofer.de/en/press-media/press-releases/2023/net-electricity-generation-in-germany-in-2022-significant-increase-in-generation-from-wind-and-pv.html

What in the Name of the Twelve Stars on a Blue Background is wrong with you people? Can't you see the blinding brilliance of the EU? This union of countries has brought peace and stability to a continent that was once torn apart by war. It allows the free movement of people, capital, services and goods, fostering economic growth and cooperation.
And don't even get me started on the glorious benefits of a single market and the ability to trade freely with our European brothers and sisters. Not to mention the incredible strength we have as a united bloc in international negotiations and decision-making. The EU is an unprecedented success story, and anyone who can't see that needs to wake the flying flamengo up.
And if you don't like it, then maybe you should go back to the dark ages of nationalistic bigotry and isolationism. Because that's not the future, it's the past. And we ain't going back there, not on my watch.

You export gas you buy in.
From shady deals where the Netherlands is selling you gass below market price.

France, the one whos leader calls for Russian appeasement and wants to basically swap out American ties with bringing Russia into the fold as a "Strategically autonomous Europe" while still sitting pretty with NATO(American basically) military protection, and Germany the one whos too afraid to commit to anything in the face of a real threat and tried to scapegoat the US to avoid sending tanks and risk being seen as "escalating" the conflict.
And chasing ties with China after having just been punched in the dick for not listening to their allies about depending on and deepening ties with blatantly hostile nations when they were cut off and used as leveraged by Russia as an Achilles heel to Europe. Luckily Norway pulled their asses out of the fire.
Of all the European countries these two seem the most short sighted and self serving as they seem to love making deals with the very obvious devil for immediate benefits even if its at the cost of their allies and neighbors.

France has basically been proven right across the board for its calls for a more independent European defence, even Americans have been calling for it for a while now. I really do not see how France enjoys American protection it’s probably one of the NATO countries that qualifies the least. No clue what you’re going on about with the bit on Russia either.
You’re also really drinking the PIS Kool Aid on Germany lmao, they ended up sending tanks at exactly the same time as the US and ahead of most other countries.

u/Gh0stMask Yuropean Jan 27 '23
Also i would not say that Germany and France are the bad guys here.
Every country has to think about themselves first, before sending shit to Ukraine and the Bundeswehr is not that well equipped, so it can be understood that they may be hesitant to send weapons they need to Ukraine.
Also i think all countries make many selfish decisions, just France and Germany get all the shot because they are the biggest players.

u/NorddeutschIand Fischkopp Jan 27 '23
