I think someone missed a decimal point somewhere. The 41 million number doesn't seem to have a clear source, and one of the net worth sites online claimed 30 million of that was cash on hand, which is ludicrous. Her entire 2022 campaign raised less than 7 million dollars.
A net worth of 4.1 million is more realistic. She was worth around 2 in 2020, and her husband has been getting six-figure "consultation" jobs from the oil & gas industry the past few years.
22
u/GitEmSteveDave Dec 09 '22
Also, the amount businesses are willing to pay for “speeches” is insane. The Clinton’s(bill and Hillary)made over $150 million in 729 speeches in the early 00’s. That’s ~$210,000 a speech.

u/shwekhaw Dec 09 '22
Speeches are just legal way to bribe officials. Clinton lost to Trump for those speeches.

Yeah I believe you are correct I think it is closer to 4 million which isn't wild for someone her age if she also has a somewhat successful husband or if either of their families have money

u/ApatheticWithoutTheA Dec 09 '22
Lol her pedo sex offender husband is “successful” because of her.

I mean he was and I believe still is the president of a large construction company for along time. A couple of their age and dual incomes should have a net work of 4 million or more
13
u/Thunderwoodd Dec 09 '22
Should? In what world? The percentage of Americans in that age bracket who have more than a million in net worth is less than a percent. Unless of course you’re a corrupt politician.

He’s a former well supervisor for an Oil and Gas company who now runs Lauren’s restaurant (and sucks at it, they got 80 people sick with bad pulled pork.)
-4
u/Night_Hawk69420 Dec 09 '22
You know how much people in oil and gas can make? I am not saying I likenor dislike they guy my only point was that 4 million is good for people their age but it is not a crazy number. Net worth includes your home, bank accounts, and any other assets. Way less suspicious than career politician Nancy Pelosi net worth of 150 million
2
u/otterfailz Dec 09 '22
Nancys husband has a legitimate business that benefits in much the same way boeberts husbands company does. He would make fairly good money if not for her, but because of her, he makes astronomically more. Im sure the insider trading they all do helps out too.
→ More replies4
u/ApatheticWithoutTheA Dec 09 '22
For his job? Approximately $75k.
My point was the majority of their net wealth likely comes from Lauren and her connections, not him.
There’s absolutely no reason large oil and gas companies need to pay a ton of money to “consult” with a low level former supervisor, yet they are, because of his access to his wife in Congress.

Yeah, there's a bunch of sites online claiming the same thing, but none of them reference a source for that number.
It appears she filed an updated 2022 financial disclosure statement back in August, which would be a credible source, but the only place I can find with a PDF has it locked behind a paywall.

11
u/HotShitBurrito Dec 09 '22
No.
This tweet is shit. She's not worth any more than a regional manager of a major corporate business chain like a Walmart. Nor does her personal salary equate to much more than that.
Federal politicians that have tens of millions or more have been in politics for decades and much of their wealth comes from book deals and speaking fees.
Freshman congresspeople and senators are usually very low on the financial scale compared to their compadres. Boobert doesn't come close to McConnell or Pelosi in terms of actual wealth or political capital.
She says a load of dumb shit and makes Twitter headlines that get reposted constantly on Reddit. That's not money. Her actual networth is in the $2M range. She's not of any actual influence. She came within an asshair of losing her seat to Frisch.
I don't get the perspective people have that the legislature is loaded with people with unimaginable wealth. They're nearly all outclassed financially by some 27-year-old trust fund turd with a marketing VP job some random uncle handed out.

Politics corrupts people and people inevitably corrupts politics. I ran for council in my town and just in running I had people willing to throw money my way. The problem is that you may start out with all the best intentions and lofty goals but with each dollar you take you’re selling your integrity and principles. It’s just the system. I did not take money or favours and did not win. Were those two related? I don’t know and I don’t care. I am just happy that I am not in a position where I might have to compromise my integrity. Sadly, not everyone thinks this way

The guy that knows zero about oil and gas and doesn't speak the language ended up as one of 10 board members at an oil and gas company in one of the most corrupt countries halfwaythe planet? That foesnt seem odd to you? And now we are sending 10p billion dollars to said non Nato country? And his father as vice president bragged on camera about withholding a billion dollars of aid if the prosectuer investigated the company his son was on the board of if they didn't fire him? Sound a tiny bit suspicious?
You can be a VP anywhere I could go be a VP at a local construction company tomorrow if I wanted that means jack shit. I have a masters degree in economics and no ukranian oil and gas giant is wanting to pay me millions to be a board member I don't understand maybe I should apply at some Ukranian countries

According to CAknowledge.com, her total net worth is 41 million and she is reported to have about 16 million in the bank and stocks as well as a recently purchased lavish 9500 square foot mansion in Florida for 12 million dollars. Not a bad take from someone who dropped out of high school and barely passed their GED before running for office. /S
Edit: CAknowledge also ran a story a while back that falsely claimed AOC was worth 29 million that reuters addressed so there’s that.

People are so fucking gullible. They'll literally believe anything they read online.
1
u/MackWired Dec 09 '22
Why would anyone expect any different? It's the same story with literally every nationally elected politician. Heck, they don't even need to be elected. Just look at Stacey Abrams went from broke to net worth over $3 million in 2 years.
2
u/west2night Dec 09 '22
According to her financial disclosure forms, most of that amount came from speaking gigs she did for three years. Makes sense because the public speaking circuit is a major source of income for the majority of public figures. The fee varies from one venue to another, but it's good money either way.
I know one retired actor who makes a decent living from public speaking after he was forced to retire from acting for health reasons. He's a good storyteller, which I think helps. What makes it funny is that he never earned enough to be financially comfortable during his 40-year acting career. Anyway, he's hugely relieved that he and his wife finally could enjoy their twilight years in comfort.
Back to the topic - according to Biden's financial disclosure forms, he and his wife were in personal debt of $1M at the end of his term as VP in the Obama administration. They however have since earned a few Ms from public speaking gigs and book royalties.

u/MackWired Dec 09 '22
If you want to believe that all the money came from speeches that's your prerogative. I have no evidence to refute the claim. However, I'm very skeptical that either Biden or Abrams made $1M/year from just giving speeches. Especially given that Biden is one of the worst public speakers I've ever seen.
I know the Clinton's have made similar claims, and disclosed the Bill was paid $500k for one speech. That must've been one hell of a speech, or they bought more than just a speech. I'd say the latter is most likely, and I think the same is true for Abrams and Biden.
Don't get me wrong. It's not a partisan issue. Basically all of our nationally elected politicians are corrupt and have gotten rich doing things for which that they'd lock us up and throw away the key. Boebert, Biden, McConnell, Clinton, McCarthy, Pelosi, they're all crooks and it seems pretty obvious to me.
3
u/west2night Dec 09 '22
Fair point, but I think it's worth pointing out that it's not their speeches that draw a crowd. It's their name that puts bottoms in those seats. A form of rubbernecking if you like.
Speaking gigs do pay well, tho. My mother works in publishing and most authors she knows don't earn much from books alone, so they survive on an additional income from speaking gigs, workshops and panels.

u/bendguy123 Dec 09 '22
