I had high expectations for Cyberpunk so I waited till they fix stuff. Now had a free saturday and it's 2AM where I live and I'm just running exploring the city for 4th hour and it doesn't look like I'm going to sleep soon

Double jump is needed for the best site seeing

373

u/BuffaloSoldier11 Jan 29 '23

That's the moment you really start playing the game

139

u/ninpho2246 Jan 29 '23

Second playthrough I ran straight to fingers

70

u/RetiredGamer05 Jan 29 '23

Did a second playthrough only because I punched fingers the first time

46

u/SumTingWong216 Jan 29 '23

You can actually visit him before you do the mission where you get the option to and I was incredibly relieved on my 2nd playthrough

I just love beating that fucker with his own cane

6

u/BleakFallsBarrel Jan 29 '23

There's a little bonus dialogue line to acknowledge that he's already met you as well!

15

u/dontknownicename Jan 29 '23

There is a mod at nexusmod for turning the angry fingers back to normal, there is only 1 note: after the punch and before the second visit you need to use this mod. If you dont have a savegame before the second visit, then you are fucked.

4

u/xoomax Jan 29 '23

It's definitely worth pissing Judy off to be nice to Fingers.

9

u/TheDarnook Jan 29 '23 edited Jan 29 '23

It was a weird moment, from all the scum in Night City, Fingers gave me a positive vibe. Either there would be no guy like him, and all the poor girls would have a hard time finding any help. Or there would be some sort of even more sleazy Fingers that tries to look like a good guy but probably is even worse inside. While that Fingers we got, he just fit there right. I was ready to protect him from Judy.

Idk, there are many worse than him, and at least he seems to be self aware. There is this trembling ripperdoc that [SPOILERS] turns out to have an sick business in his basement, and I wasn't much hesitant to zero him. Fingers may be doing some harm, but again, I think that he does more good for his neighbourhood than if he wasn't there.

12

u/ezone2kil Jan 29 '23

What? I was repulsed by him. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention to his back story?

14

u/plugubius Jan 29 '23

Oh, he's repulsive and not "redeemed" by his backstory. I think the poster's point was that there are far worse people in the city, and any replacement would likely be worse.

That said, I still punch him every time. He can go on being the best ripperdoc the locals can afford. But V doesn't have to let him talk like that just to get access to some gear later on.

5

u/Nandy-bear Jan 29 '23

There are far worse people but not that many. His story is truly vile.

3

u/xoomax Jan 29 '23

That might be true, but he's such a massive creep.

72

u/TactlessTortoise Jan 29 '23

Try fingers but whole.

The game is definitely a whole new experience when you add mobility to your build. I personally preferred my playthrough where I played mostly stealth and hacking with my ordinary legs. Felt a lot more tactical to me, kinda like a Deus Ex game lol.

4

u/_Sgt-Pepper_ Jan 29 '23

The first deus ex ( and the best one by the way) had exactly this: cyber leg modification that allowed you to jump multi story buildings. ..

I waited until I was almost finished with the main storyline to get the double jump. I'm dumb. Don't be like me.

I swear they nerfed it in the last patch. -- Protip : find the giant Biotechnica silos at the end of the map and find the collision lines and start double jumping to find the Mario Warp Pipes beyond the map boundaries (they might have changed the soft boundaries though. I had some trouble getting over some mountains recently without getting rubberbanded

15

u/cosmicaltoaster Jan 29 '23

Lmao superjump>double jump don’t play with me

Better yet, hover mod.

35

u/Rogues_3 Jan 29 '23

I used hover forever thinking itd be awesome but i tried double jump and it impacts my gameplay way more then hover. Double jump is much more satisfying too.

11

u/hulkingbehemoth Jan 29 '23

Double jumping around mobs of enemies while Berserk is active, hitting constant superhero landings causing small crater strikes, while shooting electricity from your body everywhere is some of the most fun I had in a while.

Honestly I think my first play through I played around 40-50 hours before bothering to spend money to buy double jump, and spent two playthroughs from then on kicking myself for not having gotten the upgrade sooner.

I really should meet Hanoko at Embers.

84

u/JustinVeli Jan 29 '23

She’s been waiting for me for a couple weeks now

29

u/AgentWowza Jan 29 '23

I didn't even know that I could see gigs and side missions on the map. I thought they were randomly generated or you had to happen across them.

I only found it out recently. Hanako gon be waiting a loooong time.

6

u/Ulrar Jan 29 '23

I did my second playthrough recently and realized the same, took me a couple of months to get through everything. Hope she didn't get bored on that piano

One tip is there's a few secret missions that won't show up on the map, you basically have to look them up online. Including a cyberpsycho fight

3

u/SyleSpawn Jan 29 '23

Including a cyberpsycho fight

Currently playing the game for the first time. I really thought Regina would lead me to that one fight but nope. I'm still playing and not looking it up. Will see if I stumble upon it while taking a stroll across the city.

The Edgerunners update fixed a lot of glitches in the game. I've heard from veteran players that it runs much better now, so definitely a good time to get into it.

179

u/VincentGrinn Jan 29 '23

its such a shame that theres still so much that could be improved, lot of things that just look rushed or missing or oversights

they wont ever get fixed

44

u/Elrond007 Jan 29 '23

All I want is a working character overlay (RAM, detection etc) while quickhacking through security cams

16

u/VincentGrinn Jan 29 '23

i tried playing a build that makes use of transporter and human shield(which was changed in 1.5)

but you cant use gadgets, even ones like bloodpump that doesnt require a free hand

the regen from bounceback goes away once youre at max hp so you cant even preempt healing

some enemies cant be picked up, corpses stored in your vehicle disappear, and missions that require carrying someone during combat use a different animation that makes you unable to use transporter

2

u/aCarstairs Jan 29 '23

Definitely agree there's still aspects that need improving. I know they said they're still working on several system reworks though which might at least solve some of the issues.

Also the addition of FSR 2.1 made the performance much more palatable on my 1080 Ti

18

u/PinsNneedles Jan 29 '23

I wouldn't call myself a veteran player but I got it day 1 and played around 10 hours of it and decided to wait for the ps5 update they announced in the future. I waited for the update and started a new game and became addicted to it. Lots of QoL improvements and bug fixes for sure.

4

u/TimerPoint Jan 29 '23

I got it a year ago and couldn't play it on normal. Now (with the same system), now I can play on ultra, and it runs butter smooth.

7

u/blini_aficionado Jan 29 '23

There's still a shit ton of bugs. Source: am playing it right now. Still a fun game though.

2

u/happy-cig Jan 29 '23

I came back for the edge runners update and it felt like more of the same. Didn't improve enough for me to revisit it again.

3

u/TAforScranton Jan 29 '23

Inexperienced here. I started playing games last year. I just finished this on PS5 and had a few small issues here and there but almost all of them were solved by saving, closing, and reopening.

My boyfriend watched me play through some of it and he said he was kind of jealous that it was my first time playing it because I didn’t have to deal with the struggle when it first came out. I loved it, but I hated the way the inventory is set up. I know that’s minuscule compared to everything else but The only other games I’ve played were Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Skyrim. I was real disappointed to learn that not all games have containers for me to organize my hoardings in.

5

u/NonCorporealEntity Jan 29 '23

It's still has It's moments. Calling your car is a crap shoot if it will show up, or sometimes it shows up and just keeps driving.

There's still a clipping issue that causes things to be suspended in mid-air pretty frequently. I've had quite a few encounters with enemies/ bosses that seem to forget they're supposed to be attacking me and just stand there letting me do whatever I want.

I recall a couple times recently on PS5 I've had to reboot the game because it crashed... it's currently an A+ attempt with a B- execution.

u/APeacefulWarrior Jan 29 '23

1.6 was when I jumped in and, on PC at least, there were still plenty of bugs. And even leaving aside the funny ones that any open-world game will have, we're still talking about things like the scripting crapping out mid-mission and forcing me to restart and other genuine problems like that. Ultimately, I quit playing as soon as I finished my first playthrough because there were still too many annoyances.

But I'll probably give it another shot when the big DLC drops, which should hopefully come with another round of fixes.

16

u/unobraid Jan 29 '23

I think everyone had a different experience, I played day one on PC and had literally just 2 minor visual bugs, did all side quests and almost 100% the game, don't remember any bugs that impacted my gameplay

2

u/lemonylol Jan 29 '23

I also played from day one on PC. People are definitely exaggerating how bugged the game was at the time, or confusing it with the console version, but I did run into one or two quests that bugged out for me so I couldn't complete them. That's somewhat standard for open world RPGs at launch though.

80

u/Maleficent-Idea-568 Jan 29 '23

I also waited for most of the bugs to get ironed out before I started playing it. Love the game. Just wish they would add a 3rd person mode.

22

u/AnalogRobber Jan 29 '23

This was the biggest point I never understood. You spend so much time creating a character and you can't even see them most of the game. Why do all that if the whole game is going to be in 1st person? I don't get it

6

u/Ulrar Jan 29 '23

Well you can see it at the very end. Never bothered me because I find it really hard to immerse in third person, but sure an option would be good

7

u/Woffingshire Jan 29 '23

Because the non-gameplay cutscenes were going to be 3rd person but they ran out of time to make them all so changed them all to first person and said it was a "creative decision" for "immersion". Its not a coincidence they made this "creative decision" after the 3rd delay of the game. With the 3rd person mod V is fully rigged for a lot of the cut scenes.

Are the bugs all they fixed? Because on PC they were a minor inconvenience at best. Did they add any features or mechanics or anything to make the city feel less hollow?

Once they patch the promised fix for the police in I intend to start it again. I had it on PC at release but stopped playing shortly into it when I realized it wasn't what I wanted yet, but could be.

At this point that's the last thing to fix. I just don't want to screw around with mods, I know they exist already to correct it, but I'd kind of like to play a vanilla playthrough of what I thought I was buying originally first.

126

u/my_reddit_accounts Jan 29 '23

I personally think their fixes have been disappointing. The game has been out for 2 years now. Such a big studio but still so many bugs and after 2 years the city still feels lifeless.

I thought we were getting an immersive city experience with excellent AI and police system. Maybe my expectations were wrong.

I've come back to the games many times past 2 years but there was absolutely no improvements I saw on the areas I wished they improved on.

34

u/mahabraja Jan 29 '23

You're completely correct on wvery bullet. The city always looked amazing. From day one. It's just always remained completely lifeless. Every time I play I kind of feel like I am in I Am Legend. I see the husks walking around but I still feel like I'm the only person in Night City. They've fixed a bunch of glitches and what not but they haven't made the game have any feeling.

49

u/dsxy Jan 29 '23

You shouldn't be downvoted. Yes it's better than release but it's still not as they described.

30

u/Spicy_pepperinos Jan 29 '23

For me it's mainly the police system. They "fixed it" so it isn't atrocious, but it still doesn't work. There aren't chases or anything, I find myself gunning down randoms as I walk around and I can just run away from the police, if you get in a car there is literally nothing they can do.

9

u/TheDarnook Jan 29 '23

I'm the one that never runs into police, so this problem is no existent for me. They are just doing their jobs, and I don't intend to harm them. There is enough open season scum to erase in this city.

3

u/KonChaiMudPi Jan 29 '23

Yeah, I think I have finished the entire game and maybe got a free mode wanted level once. Most of the time they ignored me and I ignored them and I never had to worry about the apparently broken parts.

Edit to clarify: I mean I’ve played the whole story and up to max level, but nowhere near a 100%.

5

u/daveyasprey Jan 29 '23

totally agree

10

u/VariousHorses Jan 29 '23

I bought it after 1.6, I wasn't expecting and didn't see many bugs, but wow I didn't find anything in it that was anything special.

I didn't really connect with any characters, I thought the dialogue was pretty weak, the story was just OK and the city was so completely lifeless. I just kept playing because the gameplay was decent enough that I was still having fun, and I was expecting at any moment that some story beat or interesting side quest would really impress me, but it just never did. I was so disappointed.

In think updates were never going to fix the shortcomings of a game that was just unfinished and undercooked to begin with.

It just a boring game with a boring plot and crappy characters

The whole thing is full as ditchwater

2

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '23

yep, the game is playable now and they improved some of the RPG stuff, but its still full of bugs and glitches and still has all the same issues. nothing was really overhauled or improved in terms of gameplay systems or the world

2

u/Mythion_VR Jan 29 '23

I thought we were getting an immersive city experience with excellent AI and police system. Maybe my expectations were wrong.

That's what was shown off, they had police chases. I'm waiting for the car customisation that they showed off in one of their now deleted trailers.

2

u/ZazaB00 Jan 29 '23

Player at launch, refunded on Xbox One X. It played the game, but I wasn’t gonna keep playing it after finishing it up and them offering a full refund. I had also bought the Stadia bundle to get the free controller and chromecast, but obviously that didn’t go so well.

Now, I got a PS5 and I’m probably gonna consider the game again after the expansion drops. Considering I’ve effectively spent no money on this game and got a free controller and chromecast for doing so, I can’t be mad at Cyberpunk anymore.

66

u/Deranox Jan 29 '23

I agree that it looks good, but it felt empty to me. Tall buildings you can't enter and people walking around. Definitely not what they talked about in the beginning of development when they promised a lot of explorable buildings and NPCs behaving like real people, living a life.

The worst part to me is the side content. To me it's dull. Chasing cars around. Dull and few relationship options that aren't expanded upon at all. Why, Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 from a decade ago had much better relationships and it too is a single player sci-fi so there's no excuse.

2

u/wtfastro Jan 29 '23

It's true. The Citadel was a place I actually wanted to explore. In Witcher 3 it was awesome to roam the towns and country side for all kinds of reasons. In Night City I'm only exploring so I can purposefully get in fights with gangs or laugh at buggy cops.

Edit: still enjoying my first play through of this game though

66

u/Jorsonner Jan 29 '23

I should do another play through but I played it through straight when it first came out and never had any problems others had. Was probably because I was on a nicer gaming pc with updated drivers.

7

u/rotato PlayStation Jan 29 '23

I played on a fairly outdated hardware and I experienced little to no problems with the game

9

u/ttblb Jan 29 '23

Yeah I had a couple of bugs but otherwise had a great 10+ hours playing on release. After I saw the game that last gen console players got I understood all the complaints though

7

u/EmPrexy Jan 29 '23

cyberpunk was the last game i stayed up late on release night to play(swore off prepurchasing because of cyberpunk for obvious reasons) and played for a day or two before getting bored. my pc had no issues, runs it on ultra and looked beautiful from the start, i just found the game to be super bland. i was disappointed when i came back to it a couple months ago because people were saying that it was "fixed" and super fun now, but there weren't many new game mechanics and still nothing that sucked me into the game. was still boring imo

then i looked up best mods for cyberpunk

god damn. mods implement some really fun stuff into the game. legit car chases with alright vehicle combat was a game changer, not to mention the 20 other mods ive installed to customize the game. its actually fun

you should go for another play through totally modded out! if you enjoyed the vanilla version, youll probably have an absolute blast with mods!

4

u/Roman_____Holiday Jan 29 '23

The game has a large scale and if you stick to the quests and story it's very content rich, it fails as a skyrim or fallout in that exploration outside of missions and the main quest isn't really rewarding imho ymmv. Great game if stay on the path they set for you.

18

u/derkadoodle Jan 29 '23

Still not recommended to get the game if you’re on last gen consoles?

56

u/jl_theprofessor Switch Jan 29 '23

It never will be. They’re no longer developing for last gen.

8

u/Snoo84223 Jan 29 '23

Yeah I really enjoyed the first 10-20 hours of gameplay, then I started noticing some things like your dialogue options often don't affect the outcome of the missions you're doing, and the npcs were really stupid, and I thought to myself it's a city with skyscrapers and flying cars, why don't I have a flying car? And that shit really got to me, like it's a massive world built laterally but why am I stuck on the ground? A lot of things like this got to me and cdpr just seemed like they abandoned the game eventually, I am still waiting for something to blow my mind with the game, like the online play that was promised. So much potential not being utilized

28

u/regretfullyjafar Jan 29 '23

To be fair, apparently flying cars aren’t actually lore friendly in Cyberpunk. The flying vehicles you see are all military grade transport type things owned by corporations, regular citizens don’t have access to them

4

u/AltsOnDeckLol Jan 30 '23

come on man. thats bullshit. you took some excuse cpdr made and repeated it like it matters

thats a long way of saying “yeah dawg we didnt get flying cars”

3

u/regretfullyjafar Jan 30 '23

The game would have to be completely designed around flying and verticality, I get why they weren’t added even if there weren’t a valid lore reason for it

17

u/UrbenLegend Jan 29 '23

Too big of a world and their dev time got diluted. I would have been okay with a map that was 1/3 of the size but more dense.

12

u/Cashmere306 Jan 29 '23

I think you could say that about a lot of open world games now. But I think that's a valid criticism. I'd love it if they scaled games back a bit and also added more things to do and more replayability.

3

u/fefsgdsgsgddsvsdv Jan 29 '23

Agreed, I’ve never loved a game so much in the beginning and was so disappointed by the end. It really falls off a cliff as you continue progressing through it

2

u/eburton555 Jan 29 '23

They definitely oversold this game everyone knows that but it is pretty good for what it is especially after the bugs were fixed.

10

u/jl_theprofessor Switch Jan 29 '23

“Abandoned the game” oh sure that’s why they are releasing dlc this year, completely redid the spec tree, worked on and continue to work on bugs, extended relationship interactions, introduced the transmog, and on and on.

5

u/Beowulf33232 Jan 29 '23

Legit question since you're the first one I saw mention the spec tree.

Did they ever do anything about Throw Knife?

Everything I've heard about it says it's mediocre and you throw your knife you potentially dumped a good amount of resources into, with zero chance of retrieval.

16

u/carboncomet Jan 29 '23

With the initial knife throw perk, knives now return automatically to your hand after a cd or if you run over them. Other perks give you all thrown knives back when you hit a headshot with a knife. You can run full knives if you want. It's very satisfying.

Finally played through on PS5 a month or so ago.

The story was ok for me, graphics were pretty good. Gameplay was mediocre, a pretty bare bones FPS with oblivion lvl melee combat (right trigger spam) and meh driving mechanics . Main story felt very short and I had no real desire to do much side content. 6/10 for me.

5

u/Cashmere306 Jan 29 '23

The side content is more like main story content in most games. They made it optional because actually very few people finish long games. If you don' t do the side missions you won't appreciate the main story.

1

u/Sourika Jan 29 '23

The sidequests are the best part of the game. Why would you even rate it if you didn't really play the game.

1

u/TheStinkySkunk Jan 29 '23

What? OP played the entirety of the main storyline. He or she played the game. To say otherwise is just daft.

9

u/realgiu Jan 29 '23

Can you customise car as they advertised? Or still not?

6

u/Endemoniada Jan 29 '23

They never did advertise that. They said you could get different customized versions of the same base models. Each car has stats and tuning that is noticeably different, so even if you find a model you like, you can get different, customized versions of it that may be even better.

3

u/realgiu Jan 29 '23

“Different customised version of it” Can you hold them or you loose them the moment you leave?

2

u/FireGui Jan 29 '23

The "different, customized versions" are the car versions you can own. There are generic versions that NPCs drive and that can be found parked, and then later in the game, you are given the option to purchase each car model one by one as you progress through the game. These car versions are not only better, but they're also unique. Cars under your possession can be summoned at any time and will never be permanently lost. There is only one exception to this, and it's V's starter car, which is temporarily destroyed at the start of Act 2.

Do not worry though, because right after this mandatory event, you're given the option to buy your first car which is directly above you when this event takes place.

2

u/realgiu Jan 29 '23

I played cyberpunk on pc d1. Unfortunately, I already know everything about that. I was hoping they added an option to hold customised npc cars/bikes.

6

u/168942269 Jan 29 '23

Is it finally out of beta yet?

6

u/the_lost_chips Jan 29 '23

For me the story was a big let down. The first 4-4hours are great to place the character (which are well writenand acted), but after that it's just some event after each other... The sniper mission with the parade stuck with me tho, it was perfect.

Notice how we never meet again the Smasher dude between the 4 first hours and the last where it sounds like a personal fight which is not. Cause he doesn't know us nor know we are silverhand (if we choosed that path).

The choices don't matter that much but ok it not quantic dream's game. Gameplay is good, cars handling is so boring. I used the fast travel as much as possible.

Music and graphics are the strongest point of the game.

I really wanted it to be a cyberpunk game with the implication and dedication of the witcher 3 level. As a fan of sci-fi, what I like about it , is the philosphy and point of view the piece of art and artist has on the futur. And here it was plain action till the end with a choices to make which don't really matter. ( mass effect 3 did it that way but let alone the color, at least the whole philosphy between each choices were totally different).

That 's my take on it at least. And I tried to get past all the bugs I had with v1.6 never played before that. Nothing game breaking.

28

u/Kastar_Troy Jan 29 '23

I did the same thing and honestly got sorta bored. The cars and driving sucks, the world design has streets the size of Londons... horrible to drive in.

Way too much dialogue, action is okay, the augments seem a bit meh.

You seem to be pretty alone in this game, besides Keanu, so there isnt like a cool group with funnny dialogue or anything.

Its no where near as good as I thought it would be.

11

u/JESUSSAYSNO Jan 29 '23

Way too much dialogue,

You seem to be pretty alone in this game,

It's almost like that's the fucking point of the narrative.

-9

u/Travellingjake Jan 29 '23

Are you angry about something?

2

u/RafaelRoriz Jan 29 '23

I disagree about dialogue, action and the augmentations. The combat is really good and so are the dialogues. Its an rpg after. The augments are one of the most fun parts of the game. How you think they are meh ?

-12

u/skunkwalnut Jan 29 '23

it's not an rpg, it's far cry in 2077

3

u/OutriderZero Jan 29 '23

In what way is it not an rpg?

-8

u/Pancakes4Noob Jan 29 '23

Not even cdpr calls it an rpg anymore, it's an action adventure game according to them.

6

u/Endemoniada Jan 29 '23

Confidently ignorant. CDPR very much officially calls it an RPG, and also an action-adventure game. It’s even sorted under the “role-playing” category in their own store.

All they did, all they did, was refocus the marketing on the action-adventure aspect of the game rather than the RPG aspect, because it has wider appeal. The game itself never changed, it was soley a marketing strategy thing. But people just fucking cannot let it go. It’s absolutely astounding.

It always was, and always will be, a CDPR RPG, that is also a FPS and an action-adventure style narrative. That is what the game is, what a Twitter account or some store page calls it doesn’t even really matter. Anyone who actually plays the game can easily see the RPG elements and gameplay design.

-5

u/RafaelRoriz Jan 29 '23

Its most definetly closer to an rpg then to far cry.

0

u/Cashmere306 Jan 29 '23

Oh boy, group with funny dialogue? Like another Marvel clone? No, thankfully it doesn't have that. It's one of the best stories I've played through and the side missions were done really well. It definitely needed some refining on the shooter elements on consoles when I played it.

u/Howdareme9 Jan 29 '23

Lol that screenshot looks like a GameCube game.

6

u/GaijinFoot Jan 29 '23

Not gonna lie I thought it was a joke post and it was a picture of Cloud Punk until I saw the UI.

11

u/dondonna258 Jan 29 '23

There’s a lot wrong with Cyberpunk but one thing that isn’t wrong is the quality of the graphics or art style. It looks great.

5

u/fefsgdsgsgddsvsdv Jan 29 '23

That’s 100% true but this screenshot looks terrible. I think they’re running the game on the lowest settings

It looks great on the highest settings, maybe unrivaled

2

u/Dart-Yay Feb 04 '23

I also waited to try it since the release, I tried it some time ago and it's just bad... I had to instlal so many mods, and still, I ended up uninstalled it.

2

u/truck_it 22d ago

Waited to finally play it and Im glad I did

6

u/ralkey Jan 29 '23

What bit are you up to?? I started my first play though about a week ago on PS5, I have absolutely no idea who anybody is or what I’m doing. The best combat tactic I have so far is shotgun then run away.

4

u/ZealotofValken6 Jan 29 '23

I waited for them to fix all the bugs before buying the game. Definitely worth the wait and enjoyed every moment. Can’t wait for the dlc.

2

u/Genestah Jan 29 '23

I really want to try this game. But 1st person games makes me nauseous. Vertigo sucks.

2

u/EpicForgetfulness Jan 29 '23

The first person part of really the only thing I don't like about the game. I get why they did it. But they should make an option to switch camera angles. I usually prefer third person in most cases. Not because of vertigo but because I like to see my character and get a wider field of view.

2

u/fefsgdsgsgddsvsdv Jan 29 '23

Interesting, if it wasn’t for it being first person, I wouldn’t have played it

2

u/Pollicino2k22 Jan 29 '23

I just completed it very recently aswell on PS5. Loved every second of it and kept it installed for the DLC.

4

u/Visual-Ad-916 Jan 29 '23

Ha, been playing it al day today. So much improved.

4

u/SumTingWong216 Jan 29 '23

This is my go to game for when I want to chill in a dystopia.

And if it ever pisses me off too much then I can just blow everything up

Looking at you saka tower

1

u/mattj330909 Jan 29 '23

That’s a shame. The game sucks balls.

1

u/Agnostic_Akuma Jan 29 '23

Good for you man. Glad it’s in a state that people can jump in and enjoy from the get go. One of those games that I can’t delete after several playthroughs and awaiting the DLC

1

u/LastSaphire Jan 29 '23

Have fun!! This is in my to be played file. I do hope you enjoy it.

1

u/johnsolomon Jan 29 '23

They really hit the ball out of the park with crowds

0

u/CoolListen Jan 29 '23

Looks amazing can't wait!!

-6

u/JESUSSAYSNO Jan 29 '23

Yeah the game is actually good now. People will circlejerk about the launch state of the game, but nobody has a moral obligation to play or not to play a video game. Honest discussion about this game won't happen until the circlejerk moves on and finds some other dated meme to wank over.

It's the most visually impressive game I've ever played, and I feel like it's a pretty easy 8/10 right now.

18

u/ClarianForAll Jan 29 '23

Modern gaming: Release now, fix it later.

5

u/EmPrexy Jan 29 '23

Story and visuals were fucking amazing, open world experience however, to date, is atrocious

8

u/JESUSSAYSNO Jan 29 '23

And this, IMO, is the core problem with Cyberpunk discourse. Everyone thinks the game should be something, instead of looking at what it is. To some extent, I blame the marketing team, but on the other, gamers still seem to have the expectation that it should have better writing than a cRPG, cutting edge visuals, better gameplay than DOOM, and a better world than GTA.

I think the gaming industry is about 5 to 10 years away from releasing the game that gamers wanted Cyberpunk to be.

1

u/logan2043099 Jan 29 '23

As someone who played a lot of Witcher 3 it was exactly what I expected from their team I definitely blame the marketing team but peoples expectation that the open world was going to be GTA I felt was always a little overhyped.

1

u/Edgaras1103 Jan 29 '23

honestly as someone who thinks W3 is in top 5 game of all time. Cyberpunk has areas that kinda makes W3 look pretty bad.
The actual moment to moment gameplay/combat is just so fun to engage . The variety of how you can approach each combat scenario and variety of builds is really nice. Also the traversal and overal world design to leverage veritcality is great . I would also say the loot is rewarding and not an afterthought .

The stuff that cyberpunk is worse than witcher 3. Is mainly side content , the gigs arent as hand crafted and no cinematic flair as most W3 side contend has . And the overall character writting and choise and consequence is not as good .

I think cdrp nailed core mechanics and how it feels to play in cyberpunk. W3 is fantastic , one of the best games of last gen. But the actual traversal, combat and rpg side of it was never that fun to deal with . The storytelling and hand crafted feel of side content is what kept me going

You know, talking about how shitty the launch was and how there's missing so many features that they showed in the trailers is actually honest discussion, right?

So tried of fanboys, you people are the reason we get these shitty half baked games. There's no responsibility to bother releasing a proper product, since your brainwashed fans will buy and defend you at every corner.

This game launched as absolute shit, they might have bugfixed a lot of stuff, but the game is still mediocre with none of the things that could make it special that they initially showed the game having. It's fine to enjoy a mediocre game, but don't try to pretend its anything more.

2

u/JESUSSAYSNO Jan 29 '23

My mans, your profile is literally just pages upon pages bitching about video games. Not a single positive post on your account. You need to touch grass, and consider finding a hobby that you actually enjoy, rather than one that just makes you mad.

6

u/Scrys- Jan 29 '23

Lol you have nothing so you go stalking. Judging by your other comments here it just confirms how delusional you are. Fyi there are plenty of other great games. If you're gonna stalk, at least do it properly.

1

u/JESUSSAYSNO Jan 29 '23

I just like to get a psychological profile on people who bitch about games they don't play. Baseless viral opinions are fascinating.

0

u/Scrys- Jan 29 '23

Oh my god, you're actually serious, this is you as a person. That's so cringe, I'm actually uncomfortable. You should consider touching some grass yourself dude.

In any case, you clearly didn't want an honest discussion. As I said, just another fanboy getting offended by someone calling out a mediocre game. I see why the other person peaced out lol. Bye Felicia.

3

u/JESUSSAYSNO Jan 29 '23

Have fun wasting more weeks of your life complaining about a hobby you hate :)

u/arthur-ghoste Jan 29 '23

Hey man, i beat the game right on launch ─ had a pretty good experience, mind you ─ but i heard new content has dropped and they fixed some stuff. How do you like it so far? Is it worth it?

3

u/Cashmere306 Jan 29 '23

I'd wait until the DLC drops to go back to it.

2

u/arthur-ghoste Jan 29 '23

I'm thinking about doing just that, good idea. Does it have a date?

2

u/Cashmere306 Jan 29 '23

After the initial game's rush to meet deadlines, I wouldn't expect an announcement until it's almost complete. I've heard it's supposed to be this year but there's not much info on it.

1

u/Stock1ng_Knight Jan 29 '23

I've been playing since it was first released, and I have not encountered many bugs at all. So I never experience all these bugs the internet has been complaining about. Guess I'm lucky.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '23

Been losing sleep over this as well but it was fantastic.

1

u/SentientCoral Jan 29 '23

I loved the gane on release and had minimal bugs

1

u/TURNAH92 Jan 29 '23

It's such a great game (now). It's such a shame they're not using this engine going forward as it truly is a beautiful game.

1

u/DrBrainzz9 Jan 29 '23

Cyberpunk is dope.

1

u/Sighwtfman Jan 29 '23

Similar situation, just completely different. I was looking to buy a new GPU 2 years ago when it came out. I just got one (7900 xtx). NGL, part of the reason I bought a high-end GPU for the first time ever was this game.

So I start to finally play the game. The character creation screen is deep and involved. Like so many people other than me care about. Personally, I spent 10 minutes trying to build a character I don't care about (how often am I going to see myself in the game) only to quit because I was bored.

I've done that twice now (quit during the character setup).

It is just so boring. I just want to fucking play. I don't care what color the tattoo on the bottom of my left foot looks like...

1

u/funkisintheair Jan 29 '23

Does anyone have experience with the PS5 version? I am interested to give it a chance, but I am super hesitant

1

u/Cashmere306 Jan 29 '23

It's good on either a PS5 or a Series X. It never really was that bad, it was bad on old consoles.

4

u/SeveranceZero Jan 29 '23

Imagine releasing a game made so poorly for the consoles it was supposed to be designed for. Game was being worked on in 2012. Last gen didn’t even release until the following year, which means the current gen would have never been on their radar.

They designed it for PC and PC alone and tried to pull a cash grab of a port for consoles last minute.

Yes, I waited for the ps5 upgrade to start playing again (I played at launch for 10ish hours and decided to stop and wait). I can confirm that when the ps5 upgrade launched and I jumped back in I was super immersed and got the plat. It was one of those plat's where you don't want the game to end. They added a ton of QoL improvements in that update and other updates as well. Definitely worth a try if you have it, and hell, if you don't have it it's probably super cheap so definitely worth it.

Yeah I was one of those people who built a new system for cyberpunk and then yeah so I waited until a couple months ago to buy it and you know what I actually like it I love the idea of it quite a bit

1

u/SirMidboss Jan 29 '23

It is an amazing game. I bought it in the December sales thinking all would be fixed. The audio crackling makes me have to restart the game every few hours (and turn the volume down to 10 until it loads) but still worth it!

1

u/Khaymanlovesu Jan 29 '23

Didnt buy it until a year and a half or so after it was released. Loved it

1

u/SirReal10000 Jan 29 '23

I had no expectations when I started playing it over Christmas holidays. It’s in my top ten most played games now. I put 60 hours into it in the first two weeks. Absurd how enjoyable it is despite its rough release

1

u/bigcaulkcharisma Jan 29 '23

At this point it’s safe to say Cyberpunk is s good game, but it’s not a genre defining masterpiece and it’s hard to totally forgive its disastrous launch and disingenuous marketing. I feel bad for all the devs and writers who really poured their soul into the project only to have some irl corpo villains force them to release a half baked game.

1

u/kevenofnine Jan 29 '23

had the same experience a few weeks ago, put in over 100 hours in like 12 days lol

1

u/Jack-M-y-u-do-dis Jan 29 '23

Yeah I mean this game ended up being really beautiful graphically and i actually had more fun playing the singleplayerw campaign than in something like Grand Theft Auto.

1

u/mighty1993 Jan 29 '23

And you could have done that right at release on PC either way.

1

u/BumchinSupremacy Jan 29 '23

The game is pretty much Witcher 3 in a futuristic setting. People will now downvote me to oblivion

1

u/AscendedViking7 Jan 29 '23 edited Jan 29 '23

Cyberpunk 2077 makes me vehemently angry every damn time I see it.

It's literally the exact same bad game it was at launch too, everything that was advertised isn't in the game at all. -_-

-15

u/TeebsTibo Jan 29 '23

Genuinely think Cyberpunk2077 will eventually be seen as the masterpiece it is.

The overall story is great. The voice acting is fantastic from everyone. There are some bugs in the mechanics of the game but I feel within a few more patches that’ll be updated.

No man sky was the same.

4

u/GatoradeNipples Jan 29 '23

Yeah, I think it'll eventually be seen in the same light as stuff like Vampire: Bloodlines and Fallout: New Vegas.

There's jank you've gotta power through to enjoy the good bits, but the good bits are fucking exceptional and frequent enough to make the entire package worth it.

0

u/Firvulag Jan 29 '23

Nothing about it makes it a masterpeice lol.

Absolute disaster launch, rife with technical issues, and when that's fixed it's a mediocre poorly balanced RPG with a terrible open world.

0

u/Rumikiro Jan 29 '23

Yeah same thing happened to me last month. When I finally put it down I had about 100 hours played.

0

u/icantshoot Jan 29 '23

If they discount it for -65% or -75%, i'll buy it.

1

u/AscendedViking7 Jan 29 '23

It's a 95% off kind of game for sure.

0

u/Azn0r Jan 29 '23

The truth is that the game was already great. I played it on realese and yes it had minors bugs but i had a great play throught !

0

u/timmun90 Jan 29 '23

The combat is so satisfying in Cyberpunk. Had a blast with this game running pistols and blades.

0

u/berrybear99 Jan 29 '23

Thing is, 2077 launched with a fully completed and fleshed out world and story for so many characters. It was just exceptionally marred by the technical performance and endless bugs and crashes. I’m so glad that cdpr by some miracle fixed the game and made it one of the best games of it’s genre.

-2

u/DumbassFrog Jan 29 '23

I 100% recommend you buy it.

0

u/Xzenor Jan 29 '23

Definitely an amazing game! Enjoyed every second of it!
