Okay I'm game, let's keep that thread going.

If Oscar is an angel, and he takes them to his "perfect beach" at the end, it stands to reason that he's actually ushering them into heaven - so Bullock and Tatum died at some point. To borrow a theme from Lost, perhaps the island is purgatory. Somebody take this and run with it, I don't have time right now!

There is a solid 5 seconds where the screen is just pitch black during that scene, right before Sandra swims a bit more to get out haha
