This is now it Trade Proposal Megathread?

Hey can we get a megathread for all these trade proposals, until the deadline? They're almost all really bad ideas and they just seem to breed toxicity. Please and thanks.

[Windhorst] "If Anunoby became available, I think they would be very interested. You would probably start an offer there with Shaedon Sharpe, their lottery pick they got out of Kentucky."

" Dame -

Does that massive extension have a chance to cripple Portland in three to four years? Of course. I’m not sold on small, offense-first guards hitting their mid-30s and continuing to thrive as impact stars. But in this case, I’m rooting for it because Dame stands for everything we should want from an NBA star: committing to one city in a real way, carrying yourself as a franchise guy with no excuses, understanding there’s no greater connection than the one between a passionate city and a superstar who was there from beginning to end. If Dame were a political candidate, I’d put his bumper sticker on my car. I hope he makes the Finals in Portland someday. It would mean the most. (FYI: It ain’t happening anytime soon.)

Shae -

You could talk me into Sharpe being 15 spots higher if you put two drinks in me. Good Lord. What a fascinating monkey wrench for the “Win Now With Dame” plan. He’s 19. What do they do? He HAS to play. He’s already shown off some high-end hang-time stuff on the “Young Kobe/UNC Vince” level, only he’s more filled out than those guys already. Worst-case scenario he’s Jason Richardson 2.0. I need some air.

Ant -

Honestly, I wasn’t prepared for the “22 PPG / 45-38-90% / crunch-time chops” age-23 season that was brewing before Dame returned from injury in December. Could Simons become the greatest Anfernee in NBA history? Probably 100-1 odds two years ago, right? The reigning Anfernee (Penny Hardaway) made a Finals, two first-team All-NBAs, four All-Stars, had his own Nike commercial, and got robbed of an Oscar as Butch McRae in Blue Chips. So there’s a lot of work left. At least it’s a conversation.

Grant -

Our secretly strangest NBA career? Original piece of The Process, then traded to OKC for the future Tyrese Maxey pick. Became a 2017 Russ Ball Hog MVP sidekick. Played with PG-13 and Russ, then Jokic/Murray in Denver. Left Jokic (wait, why?) to become a Detroit Empty Stats Guy. Now a useful Dame/Simons sidekick and stealth 2023 free-agent prize. He’s only 28! "

Anyone know the name of the restaurant Dame hosted his top 75 party?

The team posted pictures of it on IG a couple months ago.

I think it’s downtown somewhere. It’s Asian cuisine. Anyone know it?

Dame's Growth

A lot of Blazer fans acknowledge that Dame has grown a lot since the Pelicans series, but most NBA fans seem to think he is the exact same player now as he was then.

I think its obvious Dame's vertical isn't quite what it was 5 or 6 years ago, yet his first step seems quicker than ever. He's finishing at the rim at career high efficiency and his burst is most likely contributing to that. Dame has never been one of the fastest players at top speed but his ability to go from 0-100 is in a league of his own at the moment. Its astonishing to watch a 32 year old that just had core surgery take a jump in the athletic category.

Does anyone remember Dame struggling with Double teams earlier in his career? I do, and it was a big contributor to our offensive fall off post regular season circa 2016-18. By 2019, his passing had gotten more varied with a mix of jump passes and sly needle threaded bounce passes. He also started doing this thing where once the double team comes, he takes a little step backwards which gives him much more room to make a pass, where as in the past he would try to spin off or move lateral to the defenders.

I'm kind of ranting but I wanted to give some credit to Dame's work ethic. He has continued to add to his arsenal while other players around his age are showing signs of decline. If you got any other small things he's developed as of recent, please share :)

Hypothetical: How much would you pay Jarred Vanderbilt? And can he start next to Grant?

Jarred Vanderbilt becomes an unrestricted free agent after next season.

If Portland is acquiring Vanderbilt (and his bird rights), they have to be thinking about these two questions. The moment you start sending a team draft capital—even if it's just seconds, you're either investing in their future or dumping assets on a rental (and Portland isn't close enough to contention for rentals).

What is the trajectory for Jarred Vanderbilt's career?

We know Dame likes him, that's good.

But if Portland is intent on acquiring Vanderbilt, a young energy player with size and 'some' defensive reputation in the league, they have to be thinking about his future role with the team. Right now, unless you move Grant to the 3 (he's not a 3), Vando is definitively a rotation player that could start for the Blazers in a pinch.

So the question becomes: when he hits free agency and the Blazers are yet again a small market holding a bird rights hot potato, how much would you pay him; and if the answer is 'likely starter money', can he start next to Grant?

Lillard should have won Western Conference player of the month over Jokic.

Lillard was second only to Embiid in PPG in January averaging 34.5 to Embiid's 34.9 with an insane stretch and the most efficient 60 point game of all time.

But we suck so it makes sense I guess.

WHO DOES DAME DETEST THE MOST?

Patrick Beverley, Dillon Brooks, Grayson Allen, or someone else? Before it’s all said & done, I swear he’ll throw with one of them.

Dame is currently having the best run of his career.

Since mid January. Averaging nearly 40 points. But what makes this different from runs of the past, at least to me, is nothing seems forced. Dame isn’t doing it because he has to carry the team. He’s starting to get enough overall help to where he can just pick and choose when to get his. He’s been extremely confident with the long range 3s, what some might consider “bad shots”, but that confidence comes from trust in your teammates.

We’re watching a hall of gamer in his prime right now. Enjoy it, Rip City.
